365… or Lucky 13
So, I admire 365 projects… to a point. It’s a disciplined cause, filling every box on the calendar with a little image. The problem I run into is, day to day image making isn’t always that interesting. A lot of projects I look at are interesting as documents, but they need the focus of real project. A click a day is not stringent enough for me and if there are not guidelines, I lapse into not caring much and eventually – not bothering.
I do make serial images. Not so much for the purpose of high aesthetics, mostly to plot progress. The garden is a yearly project and I made an effort to shoot photos of it every so often from spring to fall. So here’s my 13 project. Lucky 13. My criteria was intermittent photos of the garden from the same angle. It shows a space growing and changing. Next year, I think I need to do it again, just to tighten it up a bit. The middle of the sequence makes a jump. It would be nice to maybe even out the interval and make images register better from frame to frame.
