A visual survey of Suburban American material culture

This is an initial proposal and call for participants.
The garage is an important space in a modern American home. It is the entrance and exit. It is where we keep our playthings and workthings.
I am looking for participants for a photographic project. I am collecting pictures of garages. The end goal will be to publish and exhibit a set of images that showcase a variety of garages. I am interested any type – from cluttered with no space from cars, to organized do it yourself shrines.
I am interested in the garage as a space as well as state of mind. You can tell a lot about a person (or people) by their garage. It can be purely utilitarian, or it can be an almost ceremonial enshrinement of belongings and triumphs. You may just keep your mower there or maybe you have a stall dedicated to a full restoration of you classic car.
The Shoot will require only a small amount of your time. I will collect a set of information along with the images I capture. The info will be mostly demographic in nature and I plan to keep the images somewhat anonymous. You can pose in your space if you want, our intital contacts will direct how the shoot goes. I am merely seeking willing partcipants right now, the actual shooting will most likely take place in the warmer months.
If you are interested, contact me via the contact link to the left. I will arrange a time to have a phone interview and get to know who and what I am dealing with.
If you do not wish to participate but you are curious how the project is progressing ; please check back from time to time.
